Regular readers of Taylored Content may know that I’ve been working on a new book. Cryptosocial: How Cryptocurrencies Are Changing Social Media is a project I’ve been working on for a couple of years now. Today is official launch day.
Before I tell you all the places you can purchase the book (and preview it, if you wish), allow me to give you an overview of what the book is about.
First, I had four audiences in mind when I decided to write the book. Those four audiences are:
I’m proud to say the final product has something for all four audiences, and my editor at Business Expert Press agrees.
The book opens with an introduction designed to show why cryptosocial media, and cryptocurrencies, are important to the modern world and modern internet users. This is not a light matter. Based on many recent events, some of which didn’t make it into the book, readers of all levels and from all backgrounds should be able to relate to that discussion.
After the introduction, I go into some detail about the basics of blockchain technology, cryptocurrency, the concept of decentralization, and why cryptography is important. This is important groundwork for people new to cryptocurrencies and with no prior knowledge or experience.
Next, I delve into the history of social media and how it has led to one of the largest web properties on the internet (Facebook) exploiting its own users for its own financial gain. Then I catalog the interesting history of the growth of cryptocurrencies, starting with its anonymous inventor Satoshi Nakamoto (actually, starting with pre-bitcoin attempts to create a digital currency).
After getting into the basics and some history of important developments that led up to our current state of crypto enthusiasm, I get into the basics of cryptoeconomics. What is it? Why is it important? And what tools do crypto developers use to create vibrant economies within their ecosystems.
Then I ask, What if Facebook had launched with a cryptocurrency?
What if it did? How much money could a person who created a Facebook profile 18 years ago be making today if they had consistently been a content producer on the world’s largest and most popular social media website? I’ve devoted one whole chapter to this fantasy concept and I think every reader who gets into it will be astounded at the potential income my fictitious character Bob could have made if the opportunity had been available to him.
Finally, I get to the whole point of the book. What are the cryptosocial platforms and protocols active today, and some that have gone belly up, and what do they offer their users?
There are also chapters that discuss social blockchain gaming and the benefits of cryptosocial media to businesses.
Here’s an outline of the chapters within Cryptosocial: How Cryptocurrencies Are Changing Social Media:
